Not all chocolate is created equal. It’s true – chocolate can be a superfood! The reason chocolate gets a bad rap is because of the candy bars made from barely any cacao. The method used to today to make some of the commercial milk chocolate bars really nulls any benefits you’d be getting from the cacao plant itself. Not to mention the added junk ingredients and the large amount of added sugar you get in many of these bars.

Best Chocolate Bars

You want to aim for at least 70% cacao. This means the bar has been made from more ingredients found purely in the cacao bean. The higher the percentage, the lower the sugar. I find a good range for taste without being too biter from cacao plant is 70-85%.

Hu Dark Chocolate (70%+) (7g sugar. 3g fiber per serving)

Theo Dark Chocolate (85%) (4g sugar, 3g fiber per serving)

Lily’s Sea Salt Dark Chocolate (70%) (0g sugar, 5g sugar alcohols, 7g fiber)

Evolved Signature Dark Chocolate (72%) (7g sugar, 3g fiber)

Alter Eco Classic Dark Chocolate (85%) (4g sugar, 3g fiber)
