To life, liberty and the pursuit of yummy food! No 4th of July is complete without a couple patriotic recipes. Here are a couple of my favorite red, white and blue combinations to celebrate Independence Day with.

1. Patriotic Oats

Nothing says “I love America” like a bowl of oatmeal. Ok just kidding but seriously this simple recipe will get you in the celebrating mood.

Ingredients: 
1/2 cup old fashioned oats
1 cup water
2 tsp. coconut oil
Handful of Blueberries
8-10 strawberries
¼ large banana

Preparation 
1. Microwave oats & water in a bowl for 3 minutes.
2. Mix in coconut oil and smooth out the oatmeal to place fruit on top.
3. Place blueberries in the corner.
4. Cut strawberries and bananas as rectangular as possible. Alternate placing each.
5. Enjoy!

Fix containers: 1 purple, 1 yellow, 2 tsp.

2. Almond Butter Berry Toast

July 4th Flag Toast

This fruit, almond butter and toast combo is the perfect morning fuel.

Ingredients:
2 tsp. all-natural almond butter
1 slice ezekiel bread, toasted
11 fresh blueberries
12 fresh raspberries
¼ medium banana, cut in half lengthwise, cut into ½-inch slices

Preparation:
1. Spread almond butter evenly on toast.
2. To create a fruit flag, place five raspberries in a line parallel to the bottom of bread.
3. Place banana slices above raspberries.
4. Repeat with raspberries.
5. Place one banana slice on right side above raspberries.
6. Place two raspberries above banana slice.
7. Place one banana slice above raspberries.
8. Create a square of blueberries on the upper left corner. Serve.

Fix containers: 1 purple, 1 yellow, 2 tsp.

3. Flag Fruit Skewers

This flag fruit is the perfect healthy treat to bring to a barbecue or pool party.

Ingredients:
8 long skewers
3-4 large bananas
1/2 cup fresh blueberries
15 fresh strawberries

Preparation:
1. On four skewers, place blueberries at the top, taking up about 1/3 of the skewer.
2. On those four, alternate sliced strawberries & bananas to align up with each other
3. On the other four skewers, alternate the rest of the strawberries & bananas & align together.
4. Place on plate or wooden cutting board.

Fix containers: 2 skewers equal about 1 purple.
