Whole Foods can be one of the BEST places to shop for healthier groceries, but not everything in the store is automatically healthy.

I like to focus on products with simple ingredients, better-quality oils, quality protein sources and convenient options that make healthy eating easier.

Here are some of my favorite Whole Foods finds, broken down by category.

As always, selection and ingredients can vary by location, so double-check the package when you shop.

Breakfast

One Mighty Mill Bagels 🥯

These are made with stone-milled organic flour and have the chewy texture you actually want from a good bagel.

Top one with eggs, avocado, cream cheese or nut butter for an easy breakfast.

Evergreen Frozen Waffles 🧇

A great freezer staple, especially for kids.

They’re made with ingredients like whole-wheat flour, avocado oil, eggs, real fruits and vegetables and maple syrup.

Rise & Puff Organic Tortillas 🌯

These thin, flaky tortillas are made with organic flour, water, organic avocado oil and sea salt.

Use them for breakfast wraps, tacos, quesadillas or easy lunches.

Protein + Meal Staples

Just Ingredients Grass-Fed Whey Protein 🥛

One of my favorite protein powders with 22 grams of protein per serving and no artificial flavors or artificial sweeteners.

Better Hot Dogs 🌭

Whole Foods carries several better-quality options, including:

  • True Story Organic Grass-Fed Beef Hot Dogs
  • Teton Waters Ranch Grass-Fed Beef Hot Dogs
  • Applegate Organic Grass-Fed Beef Hot Dogs

These are great to keep around for quick lunches or easy family dinners.

Organic Valley Raw Sharp Cheddar 🧀

Made with organic cultured unpasteurized milk, salt and vegetarian enzymes.

It’s an easy addition to eggs, burgers, sandwiches or snack plates.

Gut Health + Nutrient-Dense Finds

Mother In Law’s Kimchi 🥬

Kimchi is an easy way to add fermented foods to your diet while giving meals a ton of flavor.

Try it with rice bowls, eggs, burgers or tacos.

70%+ Dark Chocolate 🍫

Cacao naturally contains polyphenols, antioxidants and minerals including magnesium and iron.

I usually look for dark chocolate around 70% cacao or higher for a good balance of sweetness and cacao.

Snacks

Firehook Organic Crackers 🫓

The Classic Sea Salt variety is made with organic wheat flour, organic honey, yeast, salt and organic olive oil.

Pair them with cheese, hummus or your favorite dip.

Siete Maíz Corn Tortilla Chips 🌽

Made with nixtamalized organic corn, avocado oil and sea salt.

They have a great crunch and are perfect for salsa or guacamole.

Zën Organic Coconut Pudding 🍮

A fun sweet treat made with ingredients like organic coconut cream, organic cane sugar and cocoa or vanilla, depending on the variety.

I also love that it comes in glass.

Dips + Condiments

Ithaca Hummus 🫘

I like their varieties made with extra virgin olive oil.

It works perfectly with veggies, crackers, wraps or snack plates.

Primal Kitchen Dipping Sauces 🍗

These are made with avocado oil instead of the soybean or canola oil found in many conventional sauces.

They’re great for burgers, chicken, fries, wraps or bowls.

Frozen Finds

Jesse & Ben’s Beef Tallow Fries 🍟

One of my favorite underrated Whole Foods products.

They’re made with just potatoes, grass-fed beef tallow and sea salt and get perfectly crispy in the air fryer.

A Few Tips for Shopping at Whole Foods

Don’t assume something is healthy just because it’s sold at Whole Foods. I still recommend flipping the package over and checking the ingredients.

I personally look for products with simple ingredient lists, quality oils and foods that make healthy eating more convenient.

And remember, not every product needs to be the most nutrient-dense food on earth. Sometimes having a better frozen waffle, tortilla or bag of fries in the house makes it much easier to put together a quick meal instead of ordering out.

Final Thoughts

Whole Foods has some incredible healthy finds, but the key is knowing what to look for.

I prioritize products that have better ingredients, offer something unique or simply make healthy eating easier for my family. These are some of my favorite options worth checking out during your next Whole Foods run.
