Just like your workouts, you should shake up your nutrition every now and then to keep your body guessing! Carb cycling is a great way to break a plateau and get extra lean. I love the “Countdown to Competition” plan from 21 Day Fix EXTREME because it allows me to customize it and is easy to follow. The main difference between this style and the regular 21 Day Fix EXTREME Eating Plan is that there is no fruit, less carbs & a little less fat.
Don’t be too intimated. The amount of meals makes it easy to say on track & you still get some carbs in the morning with your oatmeal & sweet potato. I use Flavor God seasonings on my meals to keep it interesting since you’re not supposed to have much sodium. Also, make sure to drink A LOT of water. Here’s a sample day:
Meal 1 (not shown): Oatmeal w/ 1 tsp coconut oil and Egg Whites (1 red, 1 yellow, 1 tsp)
Meal 2: 4 oz. baked chicken w/ lemon @flavorgod seasoning & sweet potatoes (1 red, 1 yellow)
Meal 3: 4 oz. baked chicken w/ lemon @flavorgod seasoning and zoodles (1 red, 1 green)
Meal 4: 4 oz baked chicken w/ broccoli (1 red, 1 green)
Meal 5: 4 oz baked chicken w/ lemon @flavorgod seasoning & zoodles (1 red, 1 green)
Meal 6: 4 oz baked chicken w/ garlic @flavorgod seasoning & broccoli (1 red, 1 green)
Meal 7 (if I’m hungry – not shown): @shakeology, cucumbers & handful of cashews (1 red, 1 green, 1 blue)
I stuck with chicken this time because I wasn’t feeling any fish or another form of lean protein but feel free to sub that in! Here’s to being pool party ready all the time. Typically you would eat 2 days this style and then 1 day regular 21 Day Fix EXTREME style if you are following the plan. The guide book recommends doing it up to 3 weeks. It’s best to get your copy & find out what calorie bracket aka how many meals you would fall in a day.
Q: Where do you get the black containers?
A: Click here to buy the same containers from amazon. My friend is also creating an even better container system with customizable sections. Click here to find out more and sign up to be the first to find out about it!
Q: Do you get bored of eating the same thing every day?
A: No at all! I switch it up on a weekly basis and choose my healthy favorites that I don’t mind eating often. I also add different seasonings to keep things interesting.
Q: Do you pre-cook all your food at the beginning of the week or do you just cut it up and package it? Does the food stay fresh all week?
A: I personally like to pre-cook all my food! I keep it properly refrigerated and find that it stays fresh up to 5 days. If you prefer, you can totally freeze the last 2 days or cook 2-3 days at a time.
Q: Can you put any of these meals in the freezer?
A: I personally don’t but I know people who do but just remember to thaw it in time.
